In Conversation with Jimmy Longoria

  • Scott County Historical Society 235 Fuller Street South Shakopee, MN, 55379 United States (map)

All are welcome at SCHS on June 22rd for an open, down-to-earth conversation with acclaimed artist Jimmy Longoria about living and working as an artist and he will share the process and required resources to be able to successfully address commission opportunities.  Bring your questions!

Heralded as the trailblazer of the Chicano Aesthetic in the Midwest, Jimmy Longoria holds the distinction of being the sole Chicano/Latino/Hispanic recipient of a prestigious Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship in Fine Art.  His receipt of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream” Award is a testament to his unwavering commitment to social justice and community empowerment.  Jimmy’s work adorns the offices of influential figures such as U. S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, Chicano Art collector Cheech Marin, and prominent state Senators at the Minnesota State Capitol.

This event is free and open to the public.
