In September 2024, our Board of Directors decided that in order to better to align with our mission and how we serve you, we would shift to a donation-based approach. This was done to make the museum more accessible and in hopes to see more of you through our doors!
what you’ll find when you visit
A short walk from scenic downtown Shakopee, Scott County Historical Society is a handicapped-accessible museum building with rotating exhibitions and an extensive research library that documents the history and genealogy of generations of Scott County residents.
Closures
SCHS is closed on the following holidays.
New Year’s Day (January 1)
Martin Luther King Day (3rd Monday in January)
President’s Day (3rd Monday in February)
Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
Independence Day (July 4)
Labor Day (1st Monday in September)
Veterans Day (November 11)
Thanksgiving (4th Thursday and Friday in November)
Christmas Day (December 25)
When the museum is closed for holidays or inclement weather, the closure will be announced on the website in a banner at the top of our website and posted on our Facebook page. For questions while we are closed for weather, please email info@scottcountyhistory.org.
