Volunteer with SCHS!

The Scott County Historical Society is a community organization, and we are always looking for great volunteers from the community to help us fulfill our mission. Our volunteers do all kinds of work for us onsite at the museum or offsite.

Our volunteers…

  • Assist visitors in the Research Library, helping researchers get started with family genealogy or a wide range of other research questions

  • Research and write articles about any number of topics in Scott County history for publication in the county-wide SCENE newsletter and on the SCHS blog

  • Maintain the Stans garden, including planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting vegetables for donation to a local food shelf

  • Lead programs and education tours onsite and offsite

  • Represent SCHS at fairs, festivals, and county-wide special events

  • Prepare mailings and help staff with administrative work
